Jack Froese, 32, died suddenly last June after suffering from an abnormal heart rhythm. But five months after his death, some of his closest pals started to receive personal emails from his account. Spookily, the messages mentioned private conversations they had with him and events since his death.
Tim Hart, who was Jack's best friend for 17 years, was amazed when an email dropped into his inbox from Jack Froese's account with the eerie title: "I'm watching." The brief message text went on: "Did you hear me? I'm at your house. Clean your f*****g attic!!!"
Shortly before Jack died in Dunmore, Pennsylvania, US, the pair had been chatting in Tim's attic when his friend joked about the mess and dust in it.
Tim told the BBC: "I turned ghost white when I read it.
"It was very quick and short but to a point that only Jack and I could relate on."
Jack's cousin Jimmy McGraw received an email a week after he broke his ankle, which happened months after his cousin's death.
It read: "Hey Jim, How ya doing? I knew you were gonna break your ankle, tried to warn you. Gotta be careful."
Jimmy added: "I'd like to say Jack sent it, just because I look at it as he's gone, but he's still trying to connect with me.
"Trying to tell me to move along, to feel better."
Jack's friends and family said no one had his password and they don't believe his account was hacked. Instead, they are choosing to accept the mysterious emails as a "gift" and not loking too closely into who might be behind the messages.
Jack's mum Patty said: "'I thought they were fantastic, they were great.
"They made some people happy, they upset some people — but to me, that's keeping people talking about him."
