Ken Johnson, the richest beggar in the World...

Ken Johnson was the richest beggar in the World at 2009. A Homeless man in Australia making up to $50,000 a year. He begs 16 hours a day, the whole week – earning about $100 on a bad day and $400 on a good day.

I know we live in hard times and some beggars truly need the money, but there are also some that beg as a Profession and drive luxury cars. Some have their Mercedes Benz or Lexus parked nearby, while you giving them money, have to take the bus. I was at Elephant and Castle Station in London years ago, when a man came up to me and told me he had lost his wallet and needed some money to get home. Soft me, got out my purse and gave him a few pounds.

Another day that week, the same man came up to me and told me the same story. I looked at him for a long time – giving him my “are you kidding me?” look. He slowly walked away.

It’s good to give – infact it’s a very important and lovely spiritual principle, but in my humble opinion, it’s better to buy things for them. Example: I would rather take them to a coffee shop and buy them a warm drink if it’s winter or if I have time, go to a nearby Grocery shop with them and ask them to pick a few things they need, while I pay for it. I am more than happy to do this.
